Mission Beach is a small friendly beachfront town just an hour and 45 minute comfortable
drive south from Cairns, a tropical and scenic drive past lush cane fields and seaside
communities. Stop off at Josephine Falls, The Boulders, or Golden Hole for a cooling swim
in the rainforest rivers then turn off the Bruce Highway at El Arish and follow Cassowary Drive into
Mission Beach for about another 12 minutes.
Coming from Townsville, you can enjoy a 2 hour 30 minute drive north. Don’t forget to
stop and see the Hinchinbrook Island lookout before the seaside town of Cardwell.
Turn off the Bruce Highway north of Tully and Mission Beach is approximately another 20 minutes
away.
The Google map below shows Mission Beach in relation to both Cairns and Townsville. It also
highlights national parks that you can visit during your leisurely journey here.
