Located on the North Queensland coast in between the northern cities of
Cairns and Townsville, Mission Beach is nestled between the sparkling waters
of the Coral Sea and the surrounds of the Wet Tropics and World Heritage Rainforests.
Mission Beach is a vibrant yet relaxed and friendly beach town which is only
just being discovered.
Mission Beach is unique in having two World Heritage listed
sites on its doorstep. Firstly, Mission Beach is the closest mainland point to the
Great Barrier Reef thus making it the ideal place to start your snorkelling, diving or
fishing trip.
Mission Beach's aquatic playground is a few minutes by boat offshore
where you will find the well known islands of Dunk Island and Bedarra Island, and the Family
Group islands. A little further south is the largest island National Park of Hinchinbrook Island.
The world-renowned Great Barrier Reef is only a 50 minute catamaran ride away
from Mission Beach and is an attraction that should never be missed.

Secondly, we have the endangered and beautiful Southern Cassowary roaming our rainforests
and sometimes our gardens!
The cassowary is the largest and most spectacular flightless
bird in the Australian rainforest and is one of the most ancient birds on the planet.
